An Instagram photo of rain at Uluru taken by @exploreuluru was the most popular post on Tourism NT’s Instagram channel @NTaustralia for 2023, attracting 31,747 likes.

The rare waterfall on Uluru was captured during a recent downpour in the Red Centre - a surreal sight that only 1% of visitors ever get to witness.

A magical scene from Wintjiri Wiru was the second most liked post with @rayofmelbourne attracting 10,244 likes on @NTaustralia for their breathtaking pic of the immersive light show illuminating the skies above Uluru. @rayofmelbourne shared the snap with his 93,000 followers after partnering with Tourism NT to promote the Northern Territory earlier this year.

Coming in a very close third, was a birds eye view of the palm lined Mataranka thermal pools showcasing the popular swimming spot’s crystal blue water. Captured by @changingtides_ the gorgeous image attracted 10,189 likes and 110 comments.

Reaching over 210,000 viewers, a reel of the exhilarating Cahills Crossing in Kakadu National Park was the fourth most popular post on @NTaustralia. @Seanscottphotography captured footage of a road train’s journey across the infamous East Alligator River causeway, interrupting two large saltwater crocodiles feeding on the road. Cahills Crossing is a renowned croc spotting location in the Top End where large numbers of saltwater crocodiles gather to feed on mullet and barramundi.

Who doesn’t love a swim at Bitter Springs? Travel bloggers Bec & Sean from @looktheworldintheeye definitely do! Their reel of Sean taking a dip at the serene Bitter Springs is the 5th most loved post on @NTaustralia attracting 6,650 likes.

It’s been another epic year on #NTaustralia showcasing the very best of the Red Centre, Big Rivers region and the tropical Top End.

Tourism NT’s official social media accounts @NTaustralia have a combined following of more than 1.1m followers and are an important tool when marketing the Territory to both Australian and global audiences.
