Tourism Town Standards Assets Program

The Territory Government is getting ready to welcome more tourists back ahead of the tourist season, to make it the best season yet.

Ten projects across the Territory have received a share of more than $800,000 in funding as part of the Tourism Town Standards Assets Program (TTSAP).

The TTSAP has been designed to assist regional and Town Councils to undertake projects that improve the visitor experience, with a focus on enhancing and improving thoroughfares and central public facilities to create welcoming public spaces across the Territory’s regions.

With regional and Town Council contributions towards the projects the total value of the 10 projects is more than $1.2 million.

Projects which have received funding in this round include new wayfinding signage and an outdoor dining space for Darwin CBD, a mobility lift for the Jabiru Swimming Pool, Welcome to Country and interpretive signage for the Tiwi Islands, funding towards the Endeavour Square Project in Nhulunbuy, upgrades to the Katherine visitor centre, a discovery kiosk with information on Batchelor, Litchfield National Park and surrounds and interpretive signage for Pine Creek in the Top End.

Further south, projects include upgrades to the Yuendumu community public toilets, a public art display for a roundabout in Alice Springs and upgrades to the Lake Mary Anne amenities block.

All projects are due to be completed by the end of June.

As well as revitalising the Territory’s regional centres, the investment in upgrades will also drive business for the local construction industry and support jobs.
