The Territory a Key Destination for International Business Events

Over the next two years five international association events will be held in the Territory and are expected to attract more than 2000 delegates and up to $5.5 million in visitor expenditure.
The events include The World Federation of Neuroscience Nurses; 9th Congress of the International BioIron Society; World Indigenous Business Forum; WaterMicro; and the 29th Asian Shipowners' Association AGM & Conference.
This is in addition to a range of national business events and conferences set to be hosted in the NT over the coming years.
Our destination appeal has played a significant factor in maximising delegate attendance, with several events staged this year achieving their highest delegate numbers.
In August, two national events held in Darwin – PULiiMA 2019 Indigenous Languages & Technology Conference and the National Housing Conference – attracted record-breaking numbers of 600 and 1,100 delegates respectively.
The Lowitja International Indigenous Health and Wellbeing Conference 2019 held in Darwin in June hosted a record-breaking 800 health and research professionals from Australia and around the world.
Business event attraction is being guided by the Territory’s first-ever dedicated Business Events Strategy.
