Darwin Street Art Festival in CBD
The Darwin Street Art Festival returns this week with 15 walls set to receive a colourful makeover.

The murals will be painted by nationally and internationally acclaimed street artists from 5 to 15 September.

The theme of this year's festival is ‘Northern Wonders’.

The Darwin Street Art Festival was launched in 2017 by the Northern Territory Major Events Company and the Northern Territory Government with eight murals painted by high profile interstate and local artists followed by 16 murals in 2018.

The amazing murals can be found in the Darwin CBD in an area bounded by Austin Lane, Bennett St, West Lane and Knuckey St.

The 2019 event will see murals painted by some of the world’s best artists such as Shaun Edwards of House of Darwin and Benita and Liam Milner of Luna Tunes with more to be announced.

An extensive program of community events will also supplement this year’s festival including children’s workshops, paint by numbers, festival hub and a street party to celebrate the completion of the festival in West Lane on Saturday 14 September complete with cocktails and food trucks.

The Darwin Street Art Festival is a Turbocharging Tourism initiative to attract more visitors to the Territory and provided a boost for local businesses.
