The Backpack the Outback roadshow will visit backpacker hot spots in Cairns, Byron Bay, Sydney and Melbourne this week.

The roadshow is an opportunity for Territory tourism operators in the backpacker sector to promote their product to travel agent hubs on Australia’s east coast.

Tourism operators can establish a direct relationship with agents, provide product training and updates, exchange information and learn from other industry partners.

Backpackers are a crucial market for the NT because stay longer, work and spend money in local businesses and industries and importantly, spread the word about what the Territory offers with friends and family back in their own countries.

For the year ending September 2018, 74,000 backpackers visited the Northern Territory contributing $1.197 million to the economy.

Nine NT backpack sector tourism operators are participating in the roadshow including Groovy Grape Marketing, Jump Inn Alice Springs, Crocosaurus Cove, Melaleuca on Mitchell and YHA, Value Inn, Wayoutback, Adventure Tours/Intrepid, The Rock Tour, and Chilli’s/Youth Shack Darwin.

The Backpack the Outback 2019 roadshow will be held in Cairns on 25 March, Byron Bay on 26 March, Sydney on 27 March, and Melbourne on 28 March.
