Ovation of the Seasons Cruise Ship
The largest cruise ship to visit Australia, the Ovation of the Seas, has returned to Darwin today for its second visit.

The $1 billion Royal Caribbean cruise liner provided a welcome boost for local businesses, with 4,280 passengers and 1,610 crew on board.

Launched in April 2016, the Ovation of the Seas is three metres longer than the Queen Mary 2 and has a gross tonnage of 168,666.

The fourth biggest cruise ship in the world and boasts the world’s first bionic bar, a glass observation viewing capsule that can hover 90 metres above sea level, surfing experiences and indoor sky diving.

Today's visit saw guests depart and embark the vessel in Darwin, providing an influx of visitors to the Top End during the off-peak season.

As part of welcoming activities, passengers were greeted by Tourism Top End ambassadors with activities in Darwin’s Smith Street Mall including pop up shops, music, entertainment and a Crocosaurus Cove reptile display.

The cruise ship industry is worth an estimated $87.6 million per year to the NT economy, which the NT Government is working to grow further through its NT Cruise Sector Activation Plan 2015-2020.
