Nitmiluk Visitor Centre has re-opened following an extensive refurbishment.

The stunning makeover is part of the NT Government's $10 million investment into developing new infrastructure within Nitmiluk National Park to attract more tourists to the Katherine region.

The upgrades to the 20 year old Visitor Centre include a new, modern kitchen, fresh bathroom facilities and extended outdoor seating.

The new-look facility also incorporates design elements that resonate with the landscape and tell the story of the Park and the Jawoyn people.

With stage one now complete, stage two has commenced which includes an interpretative display, visitor orientation information and the Welcome to Country experience at the Centre due for completion in early 2020.

Nitmiluk National Park attracts around 270,000 visitors a year, with the Visitor Centre a major hub for travellers starting their journey through the Park.

Other planned developments at the Park include upgrades to the first gorge cross-over Wet Season path, a new Katherine River crossing and an upgraded 17 Mile Valley track to support Nitmiluk Tours’ new Biddlecombe Cascades glamping experience.
