Road works will begin soon to construct 4WD tracks to new swimming holes in Litchfield National Park.

The Litchfield National Park Central Valley development is a Turbocharging Tourism initiative to enhance tourism infrastructure and attract more visitors to the Territory.

Renowned for spectacular waterfalls, safe swimming sites and stunning natural landscapes, Litchfield National Park is one of the Top End’s most popular tourism assets and the $17.5 million investment will establish the Park as a premier tourist destination for adventure seekers.

The NT Government have released a tender to design and construct Stage 1 of the project, which includes 18km of unsealed roads and tracks, suitable for 4WDs, that will lead to the site. The stage 1 works are expected to be completed in December.

Stage 2 works will include construction of infrastructure at the site of the new swimming holes such as campgrounds, walking and mountain bike trails, viewing platforms, picnic areas and car parking.

It anticipated visitors will be able to access the new swimming holes, campgrounds and day use areas for nine months of the year, which will help ease overcrowding in busier months.
