Kakadu named best major tourist attraction

Kakadu National Park has been named the top major tourist attraction at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

Kakadu Traditional Owners accepted the Gold Award at a gala ceremony in Perth.

Offering visitors the chance to experience one of the world’s most outstanding natural and cultural attractions, Kakadu National Park covers nearly 20,000 square kilometres of exceptional natural beauty and unique biodiversity.

Crowne Plaza Alice Springs Lasseters also won Gold in the Deluxe Accommodation category.

Located in the heart of Australia and surrounded by spectacular Central Australian scenery, the 4.5 star hotel features spacious hotel rooms and suites, four restaurants on site, a day spa and health club and caters to both leisure and business visitors travelling to the Red Centre.

Nitmiluk Tours won a Silver Award for Cicada Lodge in the Luxury Accommodation category and a Bronze Award in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander category.

Other Northern Territory winners were Alice Springs Visitor Information Centre with a Silver award in the Visitor Information and Services category and Venture North Australia with a Bronze in the Cultural Tourism category.
