Hermannsburg Master Plan 2017
The NT Government has announced a $600,000 investment to help develop Hermannsburg as a tourist destination.

The funding will assist with important restoration works at the historical site, allowing more visitors to Central Australia to enjoy one of the Territory's treasured assets.

In addition to the upgrades, a new Hermannsburg Visitor Experience Master Plan and Action Plan will aim to develop more accommodation ideas for the area, help smaller tourism projects come to the community and grow the amount of people working in tourism in the area.

The Hermannsburg Historic Precinct is one of only five nationally listed heritage sites in the Northern Territory and a major attraction for visitors to the West MacDonnell region.

The Precinct is one of the few surviving relatively intact mid-to-late nineteenth century ‘bush mission’ station complexes in Australia.

The Visitor Experience Master Plan and Action Plan also recognises the potential for increased visitor numbers to the area following the $25.5 million sealing of popular tourist drive, the Mereenie Inner Loop road.
