An historic agreement signed between the NT and SA Governments will strengthen tourism in the Territory.

The new Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed at a joint meeting of South Australian and Northern Territory Cabinet Ministers in Alice Springs this week, an Australian first.

The Agreement aims to build on the history of cooperation, shared cultures, shared regions and similar challenges between the Northern Territory and South Australia.

It will see cooperation on a number of policy issues including tourism, with the development of the Explorer's Way as an iconic Australian tourism experience identified as a priority.

The Agreement will seek to grow the connectivity of the Stuart Highway as a tourism corridor through re-branding, joint marketing and promotions, new value-adding attractions and supporting infrastructure.
