Million Dollar Fish Season 2 Winners
Tourism NT's Million Dollar Fish competition has got off to a golden start with three $10,000 fish caught in the first week.

The first two prize-tagged barramundi of the popular competition were caught just hours a part four days after the competition started on 1 October.

Bragging rights for the first winner of Season 2 went to Darwin mother-of-two, Kellie Carroll, who also became the first female winner in the competition's history when she hooked a 55cm competition barra in Darwin Harbour.

Darwin man, George Voukolos, reeled in the second tagged barra of Season 2 of the competition at Daly River, a popular fishing spot two and half hours from Darwin.

A third $10,000 prize-tagged barra was then caught by another local fisho, Chris Louden, capping off a remarkable first week of the competition.

Season 2 of Million Dollar Fish has seen 101 prize-tagged tagged and released across the Territory with 100 carrying $10,000 cash prize tags and one fish with a $1 Million prize tag. A further $96,000 in sponsored prizes are also up for grabs to those who register to enter the competition on www.milliondollarfish.com.au.

The Million Dollar Fish competition is an important tourism campaign run by Tourism NT and the Northern Territory Government with major sponsors CrownBet aimed at luring more visitors to the Territory in our off-peak tourism season, which is one of the best times to fish for barramundi.

The first season of the competition attracted more than 43,000 registrations from 62 countries, including 25,800 people from interstate and 14,600 Territorians.

Season 2 of Million Dollar Fish runs from 1 October 2016 - 28 February 2017.
