Some of the Northern Territory's unique festivals and events will receive a boost thanks to funding from the Events Marketing Sponsorship program.

The program will see $100,000 in funding for 17 events to be held across the Northern Territory next year.

The funding would help with the interstate and international marketing of each event.

The Territory hosts some of Australia’s best festivals and events including; theatre, cabaret, art, dance, live music, high calibre sporting events and cultural experiences.

The Events Marketing Sponsorship program will help build the Northern Territory’s reputation as a fun and adventurous holiday destination rich in art and culture.

Under the program, smaller grants of up to $5,000 are available to help with marketing for new and developing events such as regional community events, grants of up to $10,000 for marketing of annual established events and grants of up to $20,000 for innovative marketing of major events.

The initiative is part of the NT Government’s plan to drive the development of North Australia and build a $2.2 billion visitor economy by 2020.
