Darwin has been named as a host city in the Rugby League World Cup with a Quarter Final to be held in the city next year.

In one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament, the Darwin Quarter Final is expected to feature Australia and is the first time the Northern Territory has been chosen as a Rugby League World Cup venue.

The successful bid by the Northern Territory Government, through NT Major Events with the support of Tourism NT, will build on the Northern Territory’s reputation as home to first-class sporting events and festivals.

The historic clash will be played on Friday 17 November 2017 and is expected to bring an influx of tourists to the Top End for the game.

The Rugby League World Cup 2017 is jointly hosted by Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
