Chinese Tourists in Darwin
Local tourism businesses can now apply for grants of up to $5,000 to help with welcoming Chinese visitors to the NT.

The Welcome China Program aims to assist NT businesses to prepare for the anticipated arrival of Chinese visitors when direct flights to Darwin from Shenzhen begin in 2018.

Funding is available for projects including translation of menus, compendiums, safety cards, brochures, websites, signage, installation of Chinese friendly payment options and the purchase of amenities including welcome packs.

China Ready and Accredited Businesses can apply for up to $5,000 while Non China Ready and Accredited Businesses can apply for up $2,000.

Applications are also currently open for Mandarin speaking tour guides to undertake the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park Tour Guide accreditation, a compulsory requirement for all tour guides working and leading tours within Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park.

Delivered by the Department of Tourism and Culture, Charles Darwin University (CDU) and Parks Australia, the three day face-to-face intensive guide training will take place at Uluru from 10-12 May 2018.

There are 20 places available and applications close Wednesday 28 March 2018.
