Season 2 of the Northern Territory's Million Dollar Fish competition will kick off on Saturday with $2 million in prize tagged barramundi up for grabs.

The competition, the richest of its kind in Australia, has seen 101 iconic Northern Territory baramundi tagged with cash prizes.

One barra has been tagged with a $1 million dollar cash prize with 100 barramundi worth $10,000 compared with 75 in Season One of the competition.

Season 2 will also includes sponsor prizes worth $96,000, which will be drawn at random throughout the competition from anyone who registers online at www.milliondollarfish.com.au.

About 40,000 interstate visitors come to the Top End for fishing every year with the Million Dollar Fish competition a major tourism promotion aimed to lure even more visitors to stay, play and fish in the Northern Territory, particulary over the traditionally lower tourism season from October through to February.

The inaugural season of the competition was a huge success with 10 $10,000 prize tagged barra caught and over 43,000 people registered in the competition.

Season 2 of the Million Dollar Fish competition runs from 1 October 2016 - 28 February 2017. Participants must register online at www.milliondollarfish.com.au to win.
