Aboriginal Tourism grants to build on cultural tourism assets

The Northern Territory’s reputation as a leader in Aboriginal cultural tourism is on track for a boost as round three of the Aboriginal Tourism Grant program opens today with a funding pool of $200,000 available.

The grant program is targeted towards assisting Aboriginal owned and operated tourism enterprises in the Territory improve existing tourism experiences and develop new products.

Businesses can apply for one-off funding of up to $20,000 to go towards small infrastructure upgrades, the development of business, feasibility or master plans as well as interpretation projects such as new signage, with projects to be completed by 1 April 2022.

The grant program aims to help improve the sustainability of Aboriginal owned tourism businesses while enhancing the Territory’s overall Aboriginal tourism offerings.

The Aboriginal Tourism Grant Program is a key component of the Northern Territory Aboriginal Tourism Strategy 2020-2030.

Applications open today, 1 September 2021 and close 4pm, 13 October 2021.
