Tourism NT’s goal is to grow the visitor economy in the Northern Territory to $2.2 billion by 2020 as measured by overnight visitor expenditure.

To be eligible for permanent employment in Tourism NT a person must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident. For temporary employment, it is necessary for a person to hold an appropriate visa with working rights. People with visas are still able to apply for permanent vacancies, however if successful, will only be offered employment on a temporary contract in accordance with their visa dates.

Employment in Tourism NT is primarily governed by the Public Sector Employment and Management Act, its subordinate legislation and by awards and enterprise agreements including the Northern Territory Public Sector 2013-2017 Enterprise Agreement.
