China Market Development Plan

Tourism NT and industry partners have had a presence in the China market since 2004 and annual visitation from China to the NT is currently around 4,000 visitors. 

The United National World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) estimates that China will be the fourth largest source of international visitors by 2020.

The Discussion Paper for developing the China Market Activation Plan broadly articulates the issues and trends impacting on six priority areas and seeks to gain industry's views and insights on how we can work collaboratively to harness the market potential.

The six priority areas, identified by Tourism NT, offering a number of opportunities and challenges for the NT tourism industry are:

  1. Understanding the market
  2. Aviation access
  3. NT industry capability
  4. Developing the experience
  5. Partnerships
  6. Marketing Communications
