Destination Snapshots

The 'Snapshot' and 'In Focus' reports in this section summarises the latest tourism information for the NT tourism regions: Darwin; Kakadu Arnhem; Katherine Daly; Barkly (or Tablelands); Alice Springs Central Desert (or MacDonnell) and Yulara (or Petermann).

The Regional Snapshot contains information on domestic and international visitors, visitor nights, expenditure and region market share using an average of three years. This report is updated biannually.

Darwin Tourism Region

The Darwin tourism region includes the Northern Territory's capital city and its surrounds. Located in the north of Australia, Darwin provides a gateway to explore the tropical Top End and the Territory.

Kakadu Arnhem

The Kakadu and Arnhem Land tourism region incorporates the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park as well as the Aboriginal-owned Arnhem Land which is located in the middle of Australia's northern coastand is bounded by the Kakadu.

Katherine Daly

The Katherine Daly area is a vast region containing tropical savannah woodland, mighty rivers, untouched coastlines and massive cattle stations.

Tablelands (or Barkly)

The Tablelands consists of vast grassy plains and big skies. It has a long association with the cattle industry. and is home to the iconic rock formation known as the Devil’s Marbles (Karlu Karlu). The Tablelands is also renowned as a UFO hotspot.

Alice Springs and MacDonnell Tourism Region

The Alice Springs and MacDonnell tourism regions lie within Central Australia and encompasses the town of Alice Springs, the MacDonnell ranges and Kings Canyon / Watarrka.
