Developing new areas of niche specialisation assists in promoting regional dispersal. Niche products are designed to attract people who travel for a special interest or with a particular purpose in mind.
Often, niche product seekers will yield higher rates of return. Although the term “niche” refers to a specialised offering, the scope of potential offerings is quite broad.
Niche products which predominate in the Territory include fishing charters and adventures, volunteer tourism and bird and wildlife watching activities, although there is a gamut of other products available as well (ie: working cattle station experiences and indigenous cultural art trails, amongst other things).
