Regional Tourism
The Territory regions are based on Statistical Local Areas defined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and include Darwin, Kakadu, Arnhem, Daly, Katherine, Barkly (or Tablelands), MacDonnell, Alice Springs and Petermann.
Regional Snapshot
The Regional Snapshot contains information on Northern Territory visitors, visitor nights, expenditure and region market share using an average of three years. This report is updated biannually.

Darwin Tourism Region
Darwin tourism region includes the city and its surrounds. It is located in the North on a peninsula with the sea on three sides. The Top End area is made up of the three northern tourism regions; Darwin, Arnhem and the iconic Kakadu National Park.

Katherine area is made up of the Katherine and Daly tourism regions. It is a vast region of tropical savannah woodloand, containing mighty rivers, untouched coastlines and massive cattle stations.

The Tablelands consists of vast grassy plains and big skies. It has a long association with the cattle industry and it is also a place of mystical rock formations.

The Alice Springs and MacDonnell tourism regions lie within Central Australia along with the Petermann region (consisting of the iconic Ayers Rock / Uluru-Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon / Watarrka).
