Value of Heritage Tourism
Up until August 2005 there was no information available on the social and economic value of heritage assets in the Northern Territory. Given this absence of information about the contribution of heritage to tourism, Tourism NT commissioned Charles Darwin University to quantify the value of heritage tourism and identify opportunities for the growth of this sector.
The resulting report - 'Understanding the Value of Heritage Tourism in Alice Springs ' (PDF, 1,900 Kb) - reveals some exciting findings and gives a factual basis for the heritage tourism sector to plan for its strategic development.
