Kon is married to Margaret, with two children.  He emigrated to Australia from Greece in 1983 and moved to the Darwin in 1993.

Qualifications:

  • 1997- Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management
  • 1992 - Graduate Diploma in Environmental Science, Murdoch University
  • 1985 - Bachelor Degree in Applied Science (Environmental Health), Curtin University
  • 1978 - Diploma in Health Surveying, Athens, Greece

Community Activities:

  • Greek Community - Kon is extensively involved with Darwin's multicultural community through the multicultural media.  From 1993-2001 he produced and presented a local Greek radio program and presents a weekly nationwide Greek news segment on SBS. From 1993-95 he served at the Greek Community of NA Inc. Council and he taught Greek language at the Greek Community school.
  • Junior Sport - Mindil Areas Soccer Association coach 1995-2001.
  • Current member of Dripstone High, Nakara Primary and Alawa Primary School Councils.
  • NT Police Ethnic Advisory Committee – ex member.
  • From 1994-99 he served at the RAAF Reserves as a Flying Officer-Environmental Health.

Kon is patron for Darwin Life Saving Club and Nungalinya College.  Prior to his election, Kon was employed as the Director of Clinical Services at Danila Dilba.  He was previously employed (1993 - 2000) as the Manager of THS's Darwin Urban Environmental Health Unit and Environmental Health Officer and Surveyor (1986 - 93) in Port Hedland and Wanneroo, WA. 

Kon first became involved in politics with the Greek Democracy rallies in the mid 1970s which resulted in the removal of the monarchy and the establishment of the Hellenic Republic.  During his college years he participated in student politics and was a student representative at the Athens Higher Vocational School.  He joined the ALP in 1984.

Kon enjoys participating in community activities, soccer training and reading.
