Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME) 2011
The Northern Territory Convention Bureau (NTCB) and 20 industry partners from across the NT participated in the annual Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME) in Melbourne from 14-16 February 2011. This event is the largest Business Tourism sector trade show in the Southern Hemisphere and provided representatives an opportunity to meet with national and international conference and incentive planners. The NT has been a regular participant at this event each year and used the opportunity this year to seek new business opportunities for the NT and build on marketplace relationships already established. As part of Tourism NT’s strategy to leverage off the Territory’s strong business and industry strengths, appointments were sought with planners for whom the Territory is of specific relevance, such as those in the Oil & Gas, Minerals, Renewable Energy, Health and Desert Knowledge sectors.
A series of fact sheets distributed by the NT Convention Bureau at AIME to highlight the Territory strengths in these areas, along with a range of sample itineraries. A copy of these factsheets are avialable to download below:
There was also afocus on enhancing activities already undertaken to date to attract new incentive, meeting and technical tour business from China’s rapidly expanding corporate and business tourism markets.
The NT Stand had a cultural theme featuring interactive indigenous dot painting and bush foods presentations. Amazing new 3D technology was used to display spectacular NT destination footage. The NTCB and industry partners also hosted a special dinner event during AIME. Selected client guests experienced a specialised menu designed and prepared by the team at Kungas can Cook and featuring Gunbalanya Buffalo as well as fresh NT Seafood sponsored by the team at ‘Support NT Caught’.
