Tourism is one of the few industries that can provide sustainable economic and social independence for Indigenous people through jobs, education, training and business ownership.

It is also one of the few industries that has the potential to:

• Provide economic opportunities to remote communities of the Northern Territory.
• Protect and enhance cultural traditions and beliefs for young and old Indigenous people.
• Build self-esteem and confidence.
• Promote cross-cultural exchange between Indigenous people and visitors from Australia and overseas.
• Create opportunities for Indigenous artists and performance-related businesses.
