Million Dollar Fish nets record season
Season 3 of the Million Dollar Fish competition has ended on a high with a record number of fish caught.
The competition, which finished on 28 February, saw 13 red tagged barramundi caught, each carrying a $10,000 cash prize.

Combined with the 10 barramundi worth $10,000 caught in Season 1 and the eight caught in Season 2, the Million Dollar Fish competition has paid out a total of $310,000 in cash prizes since it began.

Over the past three seasons, the competition has also attracted more than 32,000 entries, including 16,500 Territorians, 15,000 entrants from interstate and 350 entries from overseas.

Major sponsors of the competition, CrownBet, have also revealed the secret tag number for the one that got away - the Season 3 Million Dollar Fish worth $1 million - was red tag S3-MDF 3556.

The Million Dollar Fish competition is a Tourism NT initiative designed to lure more visitors to the Territory during the off-peak tourism season and boost the NT’s reputation as the best place in the world to stay, play and fish.
