Top End Wedding

Lady standing in the top end bush

Top End Wedding is a feature film co-written by, produced and starring Darwin’s-own Miranda Tapsell as well as our iconic Top End destinations Darwin, Tiwi Islands, Kakadu, Arnhem Land and Nitmiluk/Katherine Gorge, Katherine.

The film tells the story of successful lawyer Lauren, played by Miranda Tapsell, and her fiancé Ned, played by Bohemian Rhapsody star Gwilym Lee. The couple has just ten days to find Lauren’s mother in the NT, reunite her parents and pull off their dream wedding.

The film premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival in Utah and was released in Australian cinemas in May 2019.

The campaign

Tourism NT launched a destination marketing campaign targeting holiday visitors to the Territory to leverage the anticipated interest from Top End Wedding.

The campaign included extensive media placements with targeted TV, digital media, social platforms and PR activity; and combined both advertising, articles, videos and a competition. Highlights included:

Launched on the TODAY Show, the Win a Wedding competition saw one lucky Aussie couple win a dream wedding in the Top End.

The competition helped promote local Territory businesses and wedding suppliers with the wedding broadcast live on the TODAY Show on 6 May 2019.
